ELGi AT THE COIMBATORE MARATHON

In 2017, we aligned the company’s aspiration to become the world’s number two with our participation in the marathon. This, with a view to creating a unique challenge for ELGi’s participating team. The team had to clock 28,251 miles which corresponds to the height of the world’s number two peak — a symbolic representation of our Conquer K2 aspiration.

In 2018, the challenge was to complete 100 km in the run-up to the marathon in commemoration of ELGi’s presence in 100 countries. Participants who clocked 100 km on the fitness app Strava were recognised on the day of the marathon.

In 2019 ELGi powered the Coimbatore Marathon, India on 6 October 2019. ELGi North America was also the sponsor of the Susan G. Komen's Race for the Cure®, a marathon focused on fundraising for the advancement in breast cancer treatment. This marathon was scheduled on 5 October in Charlotte USA. As a lead up to both the marathons and in a bid to promote fitness as a means to ward off lifestyle related diseases and build cancer awareness, ELGi employees across the global participated in the #What’sYourFinishLine challenge ...

ELGi powered the 2020 Coimbatore Marathon, held virtually in December. All proceeds from the marathon support the Coimbatore Cancer Foundation in its efforts to spread cancer awareness among the masses.

Elgi Equipments powers the 9th edition of the Coimbatore Marathon held virtually in December 2021. All proceeds from the marathon will go to the Coimbatore Cancer Foundation, which in turn greatly augments its efforts to raise cancer awareness, besides improving cancer patients’ and caregivers’ health and well-being.

The Coimbatore Marathon has returned to total capacity after running virtually for the last two years. The 2022 edition had participation from over 16,500 people, comprising close to 2000 ELGi employees and their families.
