ELGi Introduces Next-Generation EG Series Air Compressors for Superior Efficiency

Designed for maximum energy efficiency, the expanded EG Series range helps customers in energy-intensive industries cut operational costs and achieve sustainability goals.
The EG SP 90-110 offers a 15% energy savings over previous models with its efficient two-stage η-V profile airends.
The EG PM 11-45kW features a PMSM for peak energy efficiency and reduced carbon footprint.

Charlotte, NC: ELGi North America has upgraded its EG Series portfolio with the introduction of the EG Super Premium (EG SP) 90-110 range of oil-lubricated screw air compressors and the EG PM 11-45kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) compressor. Engineered to meet the evolving demands of industries worldwide, the new units maximize energy savings and reduce environmental impact through advanced compressed air technologies.

EG SP 90-110

The EG SP 90-110 achieves improved energy efficiency through its two-stage airends with the proven η-V profile. This configuration distributes operational load evenly across each stage, increasing component lifespan and achieving up to 15% energy savings compared to prior models. Additionally, Nema Premium Efficiency Motors, directly coupled with the airends, optimize energy efficiency and ensure reliable operation in harsh conditions.

Optional built-in ELGi Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) further enhance this range’s efficiency by matching compressor output with demand with varying motor speeds. This reduces power consumption and yields significant energy savings.

EG PM 11-45kW

The state-of-the-art EG PM is poised to deliver up to 16% improved efficiency gains over traditional induction motors with VFDs, aside from an incremental FAD or free air delivery of 16% for every customer. The new EG PM 11-45kW compressor is equipped with the IE5+ ELGi TORQ Permanent Magnet Motor. The motor efficiencies between 96.5% and 97.6% are well above the IE5 levels, resulting in maximised energy efficiency and carbon footprint reduction. This air-cooled motor eliminates rotor current losses typical in induction motors, achieving high efficiency across varying speeds. Additionally, PMSMs can achieve synchronous operation, meaning the motor's rotor speed precisely aligns with the AC current frequency. This allows for precise speed control that is beneficial for applications with fluctuating air demands and helps reduce energy consumption. The directly coupled system offers optimized lower motor and airend speeds, ensuring synchronous operation and optimal performance, which is particularly effective in variable lower flow demands.

Neuron 4 controlled

Both the EG SP and EG PM 11-45kW incorporate the next-generation Neuron 4 controller, which features a 7-inch touchscreen interface. Capable of sequencing up to eight compressors, the controller includes pressure schedulers and supports a wide range of communication options and protocols, ensuring compatibility with Industry 4.0 standards.
