Amada Metalworking Powered by ELGi EG and EQ Series Air Compressors

Energy-efficient ELGi EG and EQ Series units deliver reliable, high-pressure and high-quality compressed air for Amada’s precision cutting and machine operation demonstrations in Sweden and Spain.
Waterloo, Belgium – 3 June 2026 - Amada Group, a leading manufacturer of sheet metal processing machines, has enhanced the performance and sustainability of its technical demonstrations by installing advanced compressed air systems from ELGi Compressors Europe, a subsidiary of Elgi Equipments Limited, one of the world’s leading air compressor manufacturers. The ELGi EG Series rotary screw air compressor and the EQ Series unit, capable of delivering up to 15.5 bar(g) pressure, have provided reliable, energy-efficient compressed air to power Amada’s latest metalworking and laser cutting technologies during customer demonstrations in Sweden and Spain.
Amada Group offers sheet metal processing machinery and automation systems, combining Japanese engineering heritage with over 40 years of European expertise. The company designs, manufactures and services a wide range of solutions for laser cutting, bending, punching and metal fabrication.
“In a move towards efficiency, the industry is increasingly turning to compressed air instead of nitrogen. Compressed air is easier and more cost-effective to generate on-site, enables faster cutting for certain materials, and helps reduce both energy consumption and carbon emissions,” said Ramón Serramitjana at Amada. “We have integrated compressed air into our machines for many years, and this transition required a dependable solution capable of meeting both our technical and environmental objectives. ELGi’s air compressors used in our demo applications have performed flawlessly”.
Compressed Air Powers Amada’s flagship showroom in Sweden
Compressed air plays a vital role in metalworking processes by powering pneumatic components, operating precision machinery, and serving as an assist gas in laser-cutting applications to ensure clean and accurate results. In 2023, while establishing its new office and showroom in Sweden, Amada Scandinavia sought a compressed air solution capable of meeting the demanding requirements of its high-performance equipment while supporting the company’s environmental and energy-efficiency goals, including a commitment to reduce CO₂ emissions by 75% by 2030.
To achieve this, Amada Scandinavia collaborated with Frovena Service AB, ELGi’s Channel Partner in Sweden, and selected the ELGi EG30-13V rotary screw compressor. The unit delivers 12.5 bar of pressure and serves as a reliable source of high-quality compressed air for operating Amada’s advanced metalworking machines and laser cutting systems during customer demonstrations and exhibitions.
The ELGi EG Series rotary screw air compressors deliver superior energy efficiency, reliability, and low-noise performance for demanding industrial environments. Each unit features ELGi’s in-house-developed η-V profile rotors with a 4/5 lobe combination, engineered to maximise compressed air delivery at low running speeds while reducing power consumption and operating costs. The compressors are equipped with efficient Totally Enclosed Fan-Cooled severe-duty motors featuring larger cores and increased windings for improved thermal performance and durability. A robust cooling system ensures low discharge air temperatures and extends component life.
For long-term peace of mind, the EG Series comes with a ten-year warranty on the airend and a five-year warranty on the complete package.
Amada’s Demonstrations in Spain with ELGi EQ Series
ELGi’s air compressors were also used by the Amada Spain team during the EMAF tradeshow, where they formed an integral part of the company’s laser-cutting system. At large industrial exhibitions, ensuring a sufficient and stable supply of compressed air to power high-performance machinery can often be challenging. In this case, the Amada team sought a reliable, correctly sized compressed air system, including an efficient compressed air dryer, to meet its operational needs. ELGi delivered the EQ22 compressor, capable of supplying 15.5 bar(g) pressure, making it the ideal solution for this demanding environment.
During the demonstrations, air pressures between 8 and 10 bar(g) were used to cut materials up to 20 mm in thick. With higher pressures, even thicker materials can be cut efficiently, offering contractors greater flexibility. At the tradeshow, the EQ Series unit demonstrated clear advantages over conventional compressors, with noticeable reductions in energy consumption and operating costs. The system supplied a more stable and higher volume of compressed air, ensuring optimal performance of the laser-cutting machine.
“Energy efficiency, reliability, precision and performance must go hand in hand in the sheet metal processing industry. We are addressing this need with the ELGi EG Series, engineered to deliver consistent, high-quality compressed air while helping customers reduce energy consumption and operating costs. Our collaboration with Amada is a strong example of how the right compressor technology can support both productivity and sustainability goals in modern manufacturing,” said Victor Escolano, Senior Director – Regional Sales at ELGi.
The collaboration between Amada and ELGi reflects the growing importance of reliable and energy-efficient compressed air solutions in supporting precision manufacturing and sustainable industrial operations.
