ELGi to Spotlight Energy-Efficient Compressed Air Solutions at Industrial Sustainability Best Practices Conference

ELGi will present the impact of advanced compressor control technologies on operational efficiency.
Waterloo, Belgium, 20 May 2025 – ELGi Compressors, one of the world’s leading air compressor manufacturers, will be speaking at the upcoming Industrial Sustainability Best Practices Conference 2025, taking place on the 17th and 18th of June in Castelldefels, Barcelona, Spain. Niccolò Casini, Director of Product Management – Europe at ELGi Compressors, will join other keynote speakers from some of Europe’s leading industrial companies to share high-impact carbon reduction and energy conservation measures available for industrial on-site utilities. His presentation will align with the conference’s wider themes of energy and water conservation, food-safe system design, and quality assurance, which will be addressed by a panel of 24 industrial specialists.
Representing 12% of the total electrical energy used in manufacturing processes with compressed air systems, air compressors offer significant opportunities for industrial-scale energy conservation projects. In his presentation, Niccolò Casini will cover the crucial role of control technologies in improving energy efficiency across industrial compressed air systems.
Drawing on over a decade of experience in product development and engineering, Casini will explore four core control technologies – fixed speed, variable frequency drive (VFD), Stabilisor, and dual speed. He will outline their functionality, benefits, and ideal use cases. Whether it’s the consistent performance of fixed-speed compressors, the dynamic efficiency gains of ELGi’s proprietary Stabilisor or dual-speed technologies, the session will provide valuable insights to help users make informed operational choices.
“At ELGi, our commitment to being ‘Always Better’ drives us to continuously innovate – enhancing reliability, reducing lifecycle costs, and helping our customers minimise their environmental impact. Understanding the various control technologies available for air compressors is essential for operators aiming to optimise performance, reduce energy consumption, and support long-term sustainability goals. At the event, I will highlight how different control approaches can be matched to specific operational requirements, and how selecting the right solution can significantly enhance system efficiency, flexibility, and overall output,” - said Niccolò Casini, Director of Product Management – Europe, ELGi Compressors.
In addition to the technical session, ELGi will also exhibit its cutting-edge EG PM Series of oil-lubricated screw air compressors (11–45 kW). Designed for energy-conscious operations, and equipped with a slow rotating airend designed for longevity, robustness and reliability, the EG PM Series delivers up to 15% higher efficiency and an increased free air delivery (FAD) of 16%, outperforming many market alternatives even at 100% load conditions.
Equipped with ELGi’s own ultra-efficient IE5+ permanent magnet synchronous motor (96.5%–97.6% efficiency), the EG PM range is tailored to significantly lower energy consumption and carbon footprint. The direct drive system optimises motor and airend speeds, enhancing performance across variable load conditions. Additional intelligent features such as a smart thermal valve with an ambient temperature sensor, and the advanced Neuron 4 controller with a 7-inch touchscreen and predictive algorithms, ensure consistent, safe, and energy-optimised operations.
